I cannot remember if I have previously made a post regarding this range, but anyway, here we go again.
Last year on the old AMG Forum we watched with fascination as John Ray sculpted a superb range of 22 mm figures covering the major nations in the Seven years War. (Prussia, Austria, Saxony, Russia, Hungarians & Croats from memory). These were delightful figures, sculpted to at least the same quality as his own 28/30mm collection and in a large enough range for each country to cover most scenarios. En masse this would have been a fantastic range to collect, and many of us got very excited about the prospect, but for a number of reasons, all understandable, John decided not to proceed with the range, the masters will now be sitting boxed up in his house, unlikely to see the light of day.
Some months ago, while visiting Graham C on 3d Printer business, he showed me an Austrian musketeer and grenadier figure in 20mm that he had printed. (He had down scaled these from 28mm). They reminded me of JR's 22 ers and Graham kindly gave me a couple of prints to try casting in metal. This process was delayed until my casting machine was back in action, but I have now cast and printed a stand of 10 muskeers, painted as regiment IR4 Deutschmeister,
Very pleased with the look, and a full regiment of 60-80 figures would look spectacular on the table, and not take up a great deal of space.
Despite now having several thousand 40mm Seven Years war figures for several nations, I would seriously taking the plunge and go down the 20-22mm route if the opportunity was ever available.
What do you think ?

What I am up to.
Besides my current 3D printing fest, (thinking of doing some micro scale WW2 tanks and aircraft if I can source good files), I have been finishing off some new units in 40mm and 28 mm
My second Hanover regiment in 40mm. IR4a Von Ledebour.
Fought at Hastenbeck,Krefeld,Minden
This is a Marlborough period coastal battery from Warfare Miniatures in 28mm
I do like Barry’s figures and these were painted up recently while in Tenerife
My second Hanover regiment in 40mm. IR4a Von Ledebour.
Fought at Hastenbeck,Krefeld,Minden
I do like my Hanoverian regiments. Early days, and each new project/army tends to be my favourite.
These will make good opponents for my French army which was built in 2019.
3rd Foot Guards (Scots), Marlborough period
28mm Warfare Miniatures
The Marlborough range is a slow burner with only 3 regiments completed since last year. Looking at 2030 before I have a reasonably sized collection unless i focus more on this period. Still so much 40mm 7YW to complete before then.Thursday, March 26, 2020
Vauban fort - more progress
I have now finished printing the first bastion of my Vauban fort. This was always a Wargames bucket list project for me, ever since I saw Graham C’s work with his 3D printer.
This is going to be a monster. Printed at 120 size compared to 100 for 28mm, both 28mm and 40mm figures look great as you can see from the photos.
It does take quite a time to print a piece in this scale, and I have had problems with the model coming loose from the base when printing or the head of the printer catching on the model when near completion. This can be frustrating, but I have been able to finish any problem pieces with plastic card and milliput.
With Wargamers spending so much time at home right now, I expect some splendid projects to be produced in the months ahead.

Holiday update 3
“Holiday” still in progress waiting for news of a flight to the Uk before Tuesday cut off.
Pleased with the level of detail on this grenadier from the Marlborough era.
Ok I fooled you... it is an 80mm Stadden I have had from the early 1970,s and which I am finally getting round to painting. I still think this range and sculpting is among the best.
On to 28mm Warfare miniatures Ottomans next.
Just ordered Christopher Duffy’s reprint on the Austrian army from Helion.
Wanted this for a long time but far too pricey on the second hand market.
Hopefully it will be waiting for me when I get home( possibly in mid June) 😷😷😷😫😫

Holiday update 2
Life in Spain is very restricted with the lock down. We are confined to our appt other than going to shops for food. Bars, restaurants none food shops all closed, streets in Tenerife deserted. Feel really sorry for holiday makers in hotels who will be confined to their rooms waiting for flights. Our flight is scheduled for Sunday, fingers crossed. Weather is not great so not too warm sitting on our patio.
Marlborough figures by Warfare miniatures coming in leaps and bounds. Will be finished today and starting their Ottomans in all probability. Looking forward to using these figures with the 3D Vauban fort I am currently printing at home.
It is strange really, as the opportunity to paint for hours at a time would be considered a dream at home, but not quite the same in a foreign country when you have uncertainty and restrictions.
Still the same for us all. I wish everyone the best and hope that you are all coping.

Holiday update
Not much to report of late as I am currently at our appt in Tenerife.
The whole island has just gone into lockdown with the usual panic buying of loo roll and essentials.
Not allowed to use the community pool, but we just go to the beach.
Brought some of Barry Hilton’s Warfare miniatures to paint. I really like this range and I am building a small Malborough period British army using his Russians, with the moustaches removed and powder horns cut away. In my view they are the best figures for this period.
So I am painting away on my patio, sun out, so life could be worse, but the paint dries bloody quickly so you have to work fast! I have a local art shop a few miles away at Los Cristianos which stocks the best Vallejo range I have ever seen. This shop is a treasure, and far better than any UK art shop I have used. The guy is very proud of his business and I like to support him.
If we go into full lock down I have at least 4 weeks supply of figures, so everything is sorted. Must check the food and drink situation as well .😀😀
Hasta Luego
