My French cavalry units are normally made up of 12 figures as some of the French cavalry regiments were fairly small.
Below are a few shots of my shelves of the French army.
Each regiment has a labelled space on the shelf. I also put a label on the base of each figure group stating the nation and regiment to ensure that units do not get mixed up on the table.
Graham, now that is a nice collection! I like the labelling of the shelves, a great concept and something I have not seen before. As a matter of interest what size gaming area do you use for your battles? Regards Greg
ReplyDeleteHi Greg, the table is big, 18ft x 8ft. I am lucky in that I built a small extension and have my own wargames room. I will try and post a picture of the table later.
ReplyDeleteThe labelling is great. It came after a weekend that I spent with well known wargamer Charles G. The battle we fought is actually featured in one of his recent wargames books, again I will dig out the details for you, but basically my units got inter mixed in the action, which may be realistic, but proved really difficult when it came to sorting out all of Charles regiments at the end of the game and putting them back on his shelves. I decided to label each of my units after that.
Hi Graham, that makes sense. I can only image the size of the forces at Charles's. Like you I'm lucky to have my own wargaming room but on a much, much smaller scale. My table is 9 x 5, hence my use of 28mm and smaller. I really like your larger figures, they have such presence. A few years ago I bought some 7YW 45mm figures from Peipp Miniatures in Dresden. They paint up very nicely and are great for display. If you get time please check out my blog to get an idea of my attempt at 7YW. Appreciate any suggestions. Regards Greg
ReplyDeleteA lovely addition to your army and what a sight it is!!! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI like the blue of the new French. Are you following an OB or just whatever you fancy?
