Johann Heinrich Von Scheither

This is Johann Heinrich Von Scheither, ready to take his place as Inhaber if IR1a Von Scheither of the army of Hanover.
The figure was a conversion job in 40mm, inspired by some of the photographs in the AMG book.
S&S gaiters can look more like boots, therefore in have filed the legs back to make them appear less chunky. Not perfect, but getting better.

  1. Most definitely an improvement.

The problem is 'white gaiters' look bulky whereas black gaiters do not.

You might find it easier just to remove the legs for the 'specials' and solder brass wire and milliput....just a thought.

    1. I will give the brass solder a go for my next conversion.
Need to find my flux, which I have misplaced. Solder flows so much better with a little flux. I did study your latest conversion with regards to constructing a basic shape. Very helpful. Really enjoying your recent blog posts, something different every day to inspire

  2. Nice conversion work. I agree with you about the S&S gaiters- that feature kept me from buying any of them. The Triton figures look much better.

    1. Thanks for reading the blog Jim. Triguard figures do look good, but they are a little big for me, like the Front Rank and Perry figures. Great sculpts but a bit stiff.
I like the flexibility of S & S. Smaller figures, which is a compromise between 30 and 40mm for me, cheap to purchase and easier to convert.
